Porters English Restaurant is a rare find in London; it serves hearty traditional English food, and it tastes brilliant! Tourists looking to sample classic dishes will love this restaurant, as will people in London who like their dinners served without a slice of pretension. Starters include delights such as mini Yorkshire puddings with smoked Mackrel, a gourmet pork sausage roll and Norfolk dressed crab, which I can personally recommend – it was delicious! Mains focus heavily on traditional pie and mash, which is something that Porters are famous for. Having tried both the steak and cheddar and the chicken and mushroom pies, I can certainly vouch for their deliciousness! Other mains are similarly British such as fish and chips and toad in the hole. Each main is hearty, so I recommend you prepare yourself accordingly! It is also worth saving room for dessert as Porters make their own ice cream, including strange (but rather yummy) flavours such as Liquorice. Of course an English restaurant wouldn’t be complete without a spotted dick; thankfully this is all present and correct! Porters also serve a great range of reasonably priced cocktails, as well as a good range of wines!
Lastly, Porters offer a fantastic pre theatre menu, with two courses for £14!
