Samantha Barks and Jonathan Bailey star in the ever-popular Jason Robert Brown musical The Last 5 Years. Opening at London’s St James Theatre, the unique Off-Broadway musical is the powerful and intimate tale of two lovers who fall in and out of love over the course of five years. Recently adapted into a 2014 film starring Anna Kendrick and Jeremy Jordan, The Last 5 Years is one of the most performed musicals around the world.

The Last 5 Years has an entirely individual structure that sees the lovers’ stories told in opposite directions. Cathy’s songs begin at the end of the relationship and flashback, whilst Jamie begins as the flighty man who falls in love. Only briefly do the characters meet in the middle, as Cathy struggles to become an actress and Jamie lands the book deal of his dreams. The Last 5 Years has born some of musical theatre’s most famous songs, including “Still Hurting”, “If I Didn’t Believe in You” and “Climbing Uphill” amongst many others.

West End superstar Samantha Barks stars as Cathy, opposite Jonathan Bailey as Jamie. Barks is best-known for her eponymous portrayal of Eponine in Les Miserables, both onstage and in the film starring Hugh Jackman. Further credits include City of Angels and Amelie. Bailey’s credits include American Psycho, South Downs and a starring role in ITV’s Broadchurch.

Directed by Tony Award-winning composer-lyricist Jason Robert Brown, The Last 5 Years features musical direction by Torquil Munro. Brown’s musical credits include Songs for a New World, Parade and The Bridges of Madison County. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to see this legendary musical on the London stage, with previews beginning October 28th 2016.
