Stage and screen star Imelda Staunton returns to the West End in the iconic role of Dolly Levi as the classic musical Hello, Dolly! arrives at the London Palladium.

Dolly Levi is a meddlesome socialite turned matchmaker who, while grieving her late husband Ephram, travels to Yonkers, New York to find a match for the miserly ‘half-a-millionaire’ Horace Vandergelder. She soon, however, develops her own agenda as she realises the next match she needs to make is for… herself!

The joyful Hello Dolly musical, with a book by Michael Stewart (42nd Street, Barnum) is accompanied by Jerry Herman’s (La Cage aux Folles) legendary, rousing score. Iconic songs such as “Put on Your Sunday Clothes”, “Before the Parade Passes By” and – of course – “Hello, Dolly!” all feature in this irresistible revival of a Broadway classic.

Imelda Staunton, one of Britain’s most prolific and revered actresses, stars as Dolly Levi. She is the winner of four Olivier Awards, three of which are for Best Actress in a Musical for her roles as the Baker’s Wife in Into the Woods, Mrs. Lovett in Sweeney Todd, and Madame Rose in Gypsy. She was most recently hugely acclaimed for her performance as Sally in the 2017 National Theatre revival of Follies. Staunton will also be familiar to many from her roles in Vera Drake, Pride, and the Harry Potter series.

Other casting for the Hello Dolly musical includes Andy Nyman (Fiddler on the Roof) as Horace Vandergelder, Jenna Russell (The Bridges of Madison County) as Irene Molloy, Harry Hepple (Follies) as Cornelius Hackl, and Tyrone Huntley (Dreamgirls) as Barnaby Tucker.

Dominic Cooke directs. Cooke is a National Theatre Associate Director, and most recently directed the critically acclaimed production of Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom in 2016 and the equally revered Follies in 2017. On screen, Cooke made his feature directorial debut in 2017 with an adaptation of Ian McEwan’s On Chesil Beach.

She’s finally back where she belongs! Don’t miss the incomparable Imelda Staunton as she shines in a revival of one of the most iconic musicals of all time: Hello, Dolly!
