As You Like It

As part of the RSC's new season, a new production of Shakespeare's comedy As You Like it will play on the Barbican stage.

Shakespeare’s romantic comedy follows Rosalind, who is banished into exile, accompanied by her best friend Celia. She soon meets – and becomes a subject of desire for – Orlando, who has also found himself wandering the forest. To gage Orlando's appropriateness as a suitor, Rosalind - disguised as a man - teaches Orlando the secrets of how to woo a lady. In this creative new production featuring music, puppetry, and a great deal of laughter, you’ll discover if love can win above all else.

The production is directed by Kimberley Sykes, whose previous successes with the RSC include A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Dido, Queen of Carthage. She has also recently headed City of Angels for the Donmar Warehouse and East is East for Trafalgar Studios.

Lucy Phelps (Witness for the Prosecution) stars as Rosalind, with Sophie Khan Levy (Hanna) as Celia, and David Ajao (Barbershop Chronicles) as Orlando. All three will also star in the season’s Measure for Measure later in the year.

Don't miss the chance to experience this funny and romantic piece of Shakespeare's work. As You Like It plays at the Barbican Theatre until 18th January.
