Following overwhelming success in 2016, the critically-acclaimed production of Jesus Christ Superstar returns to Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre. Celebrating 45 years since Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s seminal musical first hit the stage, the award-winning show plays for a strictly limited 41 performances.

Featuring a legendary score that includes hits such as “I Don’t Know How to Love Him”, “Gethsemane”, “Everything’s Alright” and “Hosanna”, Jesus Christ Superstar is the epic musical following the tumultuous biblical story of Jesus and Judas. In 2016, this re-staging saw the production earn the Evening Standard Award for Best Musical Production.

Directed by Timothy Sheader, the musical features choreography by Olivier Award-winner Drew McOnie, design by Tom Scutt, lighting design by Lee Curran and sound design by Nick Lidster for Autograph.

Jesus Christ Superstar features original cast members Declan Bennett as Jesus and Tyrone Huntley as Judas, who also received the Evening Standard Award for Emerging Talent. Further cast members reprising their roles are David Thaxton as Pilate and Peter Caulfield as Herod.

Rumoured to transfer to a West End venue, the astounding Jesus Christ Superstar opens at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre on August 11th and will play until September 16th 2017.
