See this rarely performed ballet movingly updated for a modern audience with Raymonda tickets

The English National Ballet will premiere a new version of the rarely performed, Raymonda, about love and courage in the time of war, at the London Coliseum.

Set during the Crimean War, Raymonda flees England to become a nurse during the war effort. She becomes engaged to a soldier, John, while also developing feelings for his friend, Abdur, a leader of the Ottoman army. As the war heightens, so too does Raymonda’s inner turmoil – who will she give her heart to?

This new version of Raymonda has been adapted by the English National Ballet’s artistic director, Tamara Rojo and takes inspiration from the courage and spirit of Florence Nightingale and the real women who supported the war effort in Crimea.

Featuring a sensuous score by Alexander Glazunov and retaining the classic choreography of Marius Petipa, Raymonda marks Rojo’s first foray into directing and choreographing, building on her 20-year professional career as a dancer.

Don’t miss your chance to witness this rarely performed ballet, updated with a dramatic new story and a heroine taking command of her own destiny.
