The Shaftesbury Theatre takes its name from Shaftesbury Avenue, which is one of the main locations for theatre in London and is a large part of the area known as Theatreland. The area is in the heart of London and is very popular with tourists, meaning there are plenty of transportation links to the area. It is always useful to check www.tfl.gov.uk before travelling in London.

Rail


The nearest National Rail station to the Shaftesbury Theatre is London Charing Cross, which is about a 15 minute walk away. The Theatre is also a 20 minute walk away from London Euston station, which connects London with a large number of cities north of the Capital. Please see the walking directions for each station below. Please note you can also take the tube from each of these stations to Tottenham court Road tube station, which is a 4 minute walk away from the theatre.

Charing Cross (15 minutes): Exit the station, cross the road at the traffic lights and turn left towards Trafalgar Square. With the Square on your left, head up St Martin’s Place and continue as the road turns into Charing Cross Road. Continue past Leicester Square tube station and just after the road intersects high Holborn.
London Euston (20 minutes): Exit the station and head down Melton Street to Euston Road. Turn Right on Euston Road, cross the road and take the first left down Gower Street. Keep walking down the Street until it turns into Bloomsbury Street and continue forward. The theatre will be on your right hand side.

Tube


The nearest tube stations to the Shaftesbury Theatre are Tottenham Court Road (Central and Northern lines) and Holborn (Central and Piccadilly lines.) Please see the directions below.

Tottenham Court Road (4 minutes): Exit the station and head past the Dominion Theatre down New Oxford Street (towards Holborn.)  Turn right down Gower Street. As you meet Shaftesbury Avenue, the theatre will be straight ahead of you.
Holborn (5 minutes): Exit the station and head down High Holborn towards Tottenham Court Road. Turn left as the road meets Shaftesbury Avenue.

Car


The Shaftesbury Theatre is located within the heart of London Congestion Charge Zone which applies from 7am until 6pm and costs £11.50 per day. If you are driving to the theatre after 6pm then you will not be charged.
The Theatre is part of the Q-Park Scheme. The nearest participating car park is the 24hr Q Park Chinatown Car Park (20 Newport Place,WC2H 7PR). Parking costs £18 for up to 3hrs, and £24 for 4hrs but theatregoers can save 50% if they have their tickets validated at the theatre.

Taxi


There will be plenty of black cabs around the Cambridge Circus area; however these will need to be flagged down. Alternatively there are designated taxi ranks at both the nearby London’s Charing Cross and London Euston’s station.
