Tony Award-winning musical and cult favourite Falsettos receives its long-awaited UK premiere this year. See this radical, satirical show when it opens at The Other Palace on 30th August 2019.

Falsettos is a two-part musical following main character Marvin and those close to him – including his ex-wife, boyfriend, son, psychiatrist, and neighbours. It attracted a loyal following and critical acclaim thanks its ground-breaking exploration of family relationships during the AIDs crisis, and the show’s mixture of piercing humour and shattering tragedy reflects sharply on today’s politics.

It was first shown on Broadway in 1992, and the original production earned seven Tony Award nominations; it won for Best Book and Best Original Score. The 2016 revival secured a further five Tony nominations.

Falsettos features music and lyrics by William Finn and a book by Finn and James Lapine. The pair has most recently collaborated on Little Miss Sunshine, which is on tour in the UK following a European premiere at the Arcola Theatre.

The show will star Matt Cardle (Strictly Ballroom, Memphis) as Mendel, Laura Pitt-Pulford (Nell Gwynn, Barnum) as Trina, Daniel Boys (Avenue Q, Spamalot) as Marvin, Oliver Savile (Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Cats) as Whizzer, Natasha J. Barnes (Funny Girl, The Twilight Zone) as Cordelia, and Gemma K. Jones (Curious Incident, The Lion King) as Charlotte.

With an eclectic mix of characters and a message of love in its myriad forms at the centre, the European premiere of Falsettos is an event not to be missed. Catch it during its limited run at The Other Palace from 30th August 2019.
