Hershey Felder as Irving Berlin

American stage actor Hershey Felder brings two shows to London’s The Other Palace, both celebrating the lives of two of musical theatre’s greatest composers. Hershey Felder as Irving Berlin plays in rep with Maestro at Andrew Lloyd Webber’s recently rebranded venue, which gives a platform to fresh work and little-performed musicals.

Delving into the backstory of the famous musician, Hershey Felder as Irving Berlin follows the latter’s highs and lows, as he grows from being a child refugee from Czarist Russia, to conquering song-writing in New York’s Tin Pan Alley. Later, Berlin became one of Broadway and Hollywood’s finest composers, earning an impressive eight Academy Award-nominations across his life.

Frequently praised by fellow composers such as George Gershwin, who hailed him as “the greatest songwriter that has ever lived”, Irving Berlin penned chart hits and classics such as “There’s No Business Like Show Business”, “Always”, “Blue Skies”, “White Christmas”, “Puttin on the Ritz” and “God Bless America”, all of which are brought to life in Felder’s show.

Hershey Felder is the stage performer best known for his shows about famous musicians, which are performed across America. Recently, he brought his show The Pianist of Willesden Lane to the St James Theatre. Further shows include George Gershwin Alone, Monsieur Chopin, Beethoven, As I Knew Him and Maestro: The Art of Leonard Bernstein, which can also be seen revamped at The Other Palace.

Hershey Felder as Irving Berlin plays limited performances at the London venue, from September 22nd to October 15th 2017.
