Youth Music Theatre bring their powerful new musical to the London stage, featuring spellbinding new music and astounding storytelling. Tess of the d’Urbervilles is Thomas Hardy’s well-known novel, first published in 1891. Now, the tale is adapted for the stage at Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Other Palace in a thrilling new musical by Pippa Cleary.

Tess of the d’Urbervilles is the heart-wrenching story of love, betrayal and the terrible burden of secrets, following free-spirited country girl Tess Durbeyfield, who knows nothing outside of her village life. When she becomes caught between her manipulative cousin Alec and the enchanting Angel Clare, a web of dark love, seduction, abandonment and murder unfolds.

YMT bring the emotional story to life, combining vibrant storytelling with physical comedy and a score written by Pippa Cleary, who most recently penned the songs in The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole aged 13 3/4 at the Menier Chocolate Factory. The production is adapted for the stage by Gerry Flanagan.

Playing a strictly limited season at London’s The Other Palace, which is dedicated to hosting brand new musicals, Tess of the d’Urbervilles runs from April 5th to April 14th 2018.
