A Strange Loop

Book A Strange Loop musical tickets and enjoy this sharp-talking, groundbreaking Broadway sensation in London

Take a journey into the wild and hilarious mind of a young artist in Broadway’s runaway hit, A Strange Loop musical. The show is in London for a strictly limited season at the Barbican Theatre after wowing audiences across the pond and winning the Tony Award for Best Musical.

Usher is an usher at The Lion King on Broadway, but he dreams of creating musicals – his latest project is about a young, Black, queer artist writing a musical about a young, Black, queer artist. A bewildering loop begins as Usher struggles to break free of his own self-perception, and his internal struggles are brilliantly and hilariously realised on stage by a straight-talking ensemble.

This audacious, one-of-a-kind modern masterwork premiered on Broadway in 2022 to huge acclaim and quickly amassed a number of accolades including Best Musical and Best Book at the 2022 Tony Awards. It now comes to London for a one-time-only limited season, and is sure to be one of summer 2023’s hottest tickets.

Michael R. Jackson single-handedly wrote the book, music and lyrics for his A Strange Loop musical. His efforts led to his winning the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 2020.

The musical is directed in London by Stephen Brackett, who previously helmed the show on Broadway, and choreographed by Raja Feather Kelly. Director Brackett’s other work includes Be More Chill and The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical

Casting at the Barbican includes Kyle Ramar Freeman as Usher. Freeman was an understudy for the Broadway production.

This imaginative, explosively entertaining tale of self-acceptance and change is unlike anything you will have seen before. Don’t miss the groundbreaking A Strange Loop in London this summer.
