The cheerful, overenthusiastic character made famous by Will Ferrell lights up the West End stage as Buddy sets off on a journey to spread the true meaning of Christmas. As a child, he crawled into Santa’s sleigh, ended up at the North Pole, and grew up as an elf. But soon, Buddy makes a fantastic discovery: he’s actually a human, and his family is in New York City.
The Elf musical is a wintry treat, packed with stockings-full of surprises, sleigh rides and dazzling effects, and infectious songs including “Sparklejollytwinklejingley”, “World’s Greatest Dad” and “Nobody Cares About Santa”.
It premiered on Broadway in 2010, and made its West End debut in 2015 at the Dominion Theatre with a cast led by Ben Forster and Kimberley Walsh. In recent years, it has sprinkled its magic across the UK on tour, including an arena tour in 2018 that encouraged audiences to take part in a snowball fight!
Elf! The Musical has a book by Thomas Meehan (The Producers; Hairspray) and Bob Martin (The Prom) and score by Tony Award nominees Chad Beguelin and Matthew Sklar (The Wedding Singer; The Prom). The show is directed by Philip Wm McKinley, with choreography by Liam Steel, set and costume design by Tim Goodchild, sound by Gareth Owen and lighting by Patrick Woodroffe.
The Elf musical stars Matthew Wolfenden, most widely known as David Metcalfe in Emmerdale, as Buddy, Tom Chambers (White Christmas, Top Hat) as Walter Hobbs, Georgina Castle as Jovie, Rebecca Lock as Emily Hobbs, Nicholas Pound as Santa, Kim Ismay as Debs, and Dermot Canavan as the Store Manager.
