MJ the Musical is written by American playwright Lynne Nottage, whose Pulitzer Prize-winning play Sweat ran in the West End in 2019. The show features over 25 of Michael Jackson’s greatest hits, performed live on stage with snappy choreography by director Christopher Wheeldon. His other projects include Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and The Winter’s Tale at the Royal Ballet, and his work on MJ brings the spirit and skill of the singer to thrilling life on stage. The experience is so electrifying it will feel like you are watching the real deal!
MJ first opened on Broadway in 2021 and has been a huge success, with many weeks of performances sold out and averaging over $1 million dollars in grosses. It was nominated for 10 Tony Awards including Best New Musical, and it went on to win in four categories: Best Choreography, Best Actor in a Musical, Best Lighting Design in a Musical and Best Sound Design in a Musical. Critics also hailed it a success, calling it “visually & sonically ravishing” (Deadline) and a “riveting, adrenaline rush of a show” (The Washington Post).
Casting for MJ the Musical in London includes Myles Frost, who steps into the iconic silhouette of Jackson himself. Frost previously starred in MJ on Broadway, and his uncanny, scintillating and magnetic performance won the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical.
