Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Oklahoma! comes back to the West End as you’ve never experienced it before. A bold and brave reimagining of the classic musical opens at Wyndham’s Theatre in 2023. 

Telling the story of a small community closing ranks to an outsider, Oklahoma! is one of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s best-loved musicals which has long been celebrated for pioneering the “book musical” genre in the US. In this stripped-back production, love triangles and frontier life jump off the stage as if newly written, and famous songs including “Oh, What a Beautiful Mornin” and “I Cain’t Say No” can be enjoyed as if you were hearing them for the first time all over again. 

The Oklahoma musical was the first collaboration between composer Richard Rodgers and writer Oscar Hammerstein. Their other works include South Pacific, The Sound of Music, Carousel and The King and I. 

Director Daniel Fish’s visionary new staging reimagines Oklahoma! for the 21st century, making the story feel thrilling and fresh without changing a word of the original book and music. It won the 2019 Tony Award for Best Musical Revival and in 2022 transferred from New York to London’s Young Vic Theatre for a limited, sold-out season. 

Oklahoma! in the West End features orchestration and arrangements by Daniel Kluger, choreography by John Heginbotham, scenic design by Lael Jellinek & Grace Laubacher, costumes by Terese Wadden and lighting by Scott Zielinski. 

Many of the Young Vic production’s cast appear in the Oklahoma musical in the West End, including Anoushka Lucas as Laurey, Patrick Vaill as Jud, Arthur Darvill as Curly, Raphael Bushay, James Patrick Davis, Stavros Demetraki, Greg Hicks, Rebekah Hinds, Marie-Astrid Mence, and Liza Sadovy.

Sexy, provocative and boasting a slew of five-star reviews to its name on both sides of the Atlantic, this must-see revival of Oklahoma! will make you appreciate the story in a whole new way. It runs in London for a strictly limited season.
