The Playhouse Theatre is situated along the embankment aside of the picturesque river Thames. The theatre is just a short stroll away from London’s main attractions such as Buckingham Palace, St James’s Park, and the London Eye, so there is plenty to do and see nearby! There area is well connected in terms of transportation links, with tube, bus, national rail and boat stops nearby. The nearest National Rail station to the Playhouse Theatre is Charing Cross (3 minutes walk.) Exit Charing Cross Station out of the side exit near platform one. Head down the steps onto street level and turn right down Villiers Street. As you reach Embankment station turn right under the bridge. Turn right again and the Playhouse Theatre will be straight ahead of you.
The nearest tube stations are Embankment (Bakerloo, Circle, District and Northern lines) and Charing Cross (Bakerloo and Northern lines.) For directions from Embankment please see below and for directions from Charing Cross please see above in the ‘Rail’ section.
From Embankment (2 minutes) – Once out of the station, turn left and walk under the bridge. Turn right and the theatre will be straight ahead of you.
Embankment Pier is near to the Playhouse Theatre. From here you can catch boats to and from other areas of London along the river such as Greenwich and St George’s Warf.
Buses to Charing Cross Station: 6, 9, 13, 15, 23, 139, 176.
The Playhouse Theatre is located within the London Congestion Charge Zone. The Charge Zone is active from 7am until 6pm and costs £11.50 per day. If you are driving to the theatre after 6pm then you will not have to pay the charge. The Playhouse Theatre is part of the Q-Park Scheme. The nearest participating car park is the Q Park near Charing Cross station in Spring Gardens (SW1A 2TS). Parking costs £18 for up to 3hrs, and £24 for 4hrs but theatregoers can save 50% if they have their tickets validated at the theatre.
