Cyrano de Bergerac
Swoon over Cyrano de Bergerac play tickets
Poet, soldier, philosopher… and hopeless romantic! Olivier Award winner Adrian Lester stars as a “perfect” (The Times) Cyrano in the Royal Shakespeare Company’s vibrant revival of Edmond Rostand’s Cyrano de Bergerac play. After charming audiences in Stratford-upon-Avon last year, the large-nosed wordsmith comes to the West End’s Noel Coward Theatre for a strictly limited season.
On paper, Cyrano de Bergerac has it all: he’s a poet, soldier and philosopher with a great sense of humour and romantic sensibilities. But his physical appearance – including a famously large nose – makes him doubt himself. As he watches beautiful Roxane fall for another man, an opportunity arises. Her lover Christian is hopelessly handsome… but hopeless with words! And who will he turn to for help… but Cyrano?
The Royal Shakespeare Company’s “hilariously funny and ultimately heartbreaking” (Mail on Sunday) new version of French poet and playwright Edmond Rostand’s play was one of their season highlights last year, with critics and audiences loving the cast’s “perfect” (The Times) performances. It is directed by Simon Evans (The Dazzle) and co-adapted by poet and grime artist Debris Stevenson (Poet In Da Corner), in a version that mixes classic and modern for a brilliant new take on this well-worn story.
The Cyrano de Bergerac play cast is led by Olivier Award winner Adrian Lester as Cyrano. Lester is best known for Riviera and Hustle on TV, and his theatre credits include Red Velvet at the Garrick Theatre. Also returning to the show is original cast member Susannah Fielding (This Time With Alan Partridge, RSC/Almeida Theatre: The Merchant of Venice) as an “instantly charming” (The Stage) Roxane.
Cyrano may “walk as I please and speak as I dare”, but we’re giving you instructions: book Cyrano de Bergerac play tickets or miss out on one of the best shows in London this year. Audiences already love it and the cast are truly charming. Catch it at the Noel Coward Theatre for a strictly limited season.
