Buy Cock play tickets to see this starry revival of Bartlett’s razor-sharp drama

An all-star cast, including Taron Egerton and Bridgerton’s Jonathan Bailey, will lead a revival of Mike Bartlett’s provocative play Cock at the Ambassadors Theatre in 2022.

Cock follows John as he inadvertently meets the girl of his dreams, just as he decides he needs to take a break from his boyfriend. Exploring themes of sexuality, identity and love with an eye-opening freshness, the play grapples with the question of change – can we and should we?

Cock premiered at the Royal Court Theatre in 2009, starring Ben Whishaw, Andrew Scott and Katherine Parkinson. The play transferred to New York City in 2012 and its first major UK revival was staged by Chichester Festival Theatre in 2018.

Jonathan Bailey leads the cast as John. He soared to fame after appearing in the 2020 Netflix series Bridgerton. Bailey won the Olivier Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Musical for his performance in the 2018 revival of Stephen Sondheim’s Company.

Taron Egerton is best known for his starring role in the action-comedy film series Kingsman and for his portrayal of Elton John in the 2019 biopic Rocketman, which earned him a Golden Globe for Best Actor. He was last seen on stage in the Royal Court Theatre’s 2013 production of No Quarter.

The cast is completed by Jade Anouka (His Dark Materials, Julius Caesar) and Phil Daniels (Les Miserables, This House). Marianne Elliott (Angels in America, Company) will direct this major revival of one of Bartlett’s earliest works.

Mike Bartlett is a renowned playwright and screenwriter whose plays include King Charles III, Albion and Bull. He also won a National Television Award for his writing on the acclaimed 2015 TV series Doctor Foster, starring Suranne Jones.

With an all-star cast and a contemporary look at sex and relationships, Cock is sure to be one of the hottest tickets of the 2022 season. Don’t miss this strictly limited run at the Ambassadors Theatre from 5th March.
