Set over the course of one evening, we head to the home of Beverly and Laurence Moss, who are entertaining their new neighbours, Angela and Tony Cooper, along with their divorced neighbour, Susan Lawson, while Susan’s daughter, Abigail, is hosting a party nearby. As the play unfolds, hidden frustrations surface through awkward conversations and arguments that happen between the group. It’s an evening which ultimately concludes with an unexpected turn…
Abigail Party was created by Mike Leigh, a BAFTA winner and Academy Award nominee. This production is directed by Nadia Fall. The joint-chief executive of Young Vic Theatre, her credits include Equus, Noye’s Fludde and Three Sisters.
The Abigail’s Party play cast is led by Tamzin Outhwaite, who “fills Alison Steadman’s shoes to perfection” (The Telegraph) with her turn as Beverley. Although she is well known for starring in EastEnders as Mel Owen, she has also starred in The Haunting of Alice Bowles and Alan Ayckbourn’s How The Other Half Loves.
Kevin Bishop reprises the role of Laurence, having starred alongside Tamzin in the previous iteration. The comedian, actor, and writer is known for many roles in film, theatre and television, including Muppet Treasure Island, the 2026 revival of Porridge and Once in a Lifetime at the Young Vic.
