The musical is an adaptation of a fan-favourite manga story, bringing to life the main characters, Kosei and Kaori. Your Lie in April is an adaptation of the popular manga series that has been adapted into a 22-part anime TV series and a live-action film. The musical follows the story of Kousei Arima, a piano prodigy who lost his ability to hear the piano after his Mother passed away. Kousei’s world changes for the better when he meets Kaori, a talented and free-spirited violinist who teaches him to rediscover his love for playing the piano. The heartfelt story showcases the power of music, friendship and healing.
Zheng Xi Yong (Spring Awakening) will be leading the show as Kosei Arima with Rumi Sutton (Hex) starring alongside as Kaori Miyazono. Rachel Clare Chan (Death Note), Joanna Ampil (Miss Saigon) and Dean John-Wilson (Death Note) will also be starring in the cast.
The musical features songs written by Tony, Emmy and Grammy-nominated composer and producer, Frank Wildhorn (Bonnie and Clyde, Death Note). The book was written by Riko Sakaguchi, with the English language book written by Rinne B Groff. The musical will be directed and choreographed by Nick Winston (Bonnie and Clyde).
