The Ocean at the End of the Lane

Book The Ocean at the End of the Lane play tickets for a bewitching theatrical experience

Discover the bewildering, magic of childhood imagination in Neil Gaiman’s The Ocean at the End of the Lane, back in the West End this year. This stunning stage adaptation of Gaiman’s bestselling fantasy novel extended twice due to phenomenal demand in 2022, and following an acclaimed UK tour, plays a limited seven-week season at the Noel Coward Theatre

A man returns to the place he grew up and in the grounds of an old farm, gazes into a pond. His memory is hazy, but when he was 12 years old his friend Lettie told him it wasn’t a pond at all. It was an ocean, and beyond it lay wonderful, terrifying things he couldn’t begin to imagine…

The Ocean at the End of the Lane play is a breathtaking feat of theatrical imagination that pulls award-winning author Gaiman’s (Coraline; American Gods) vision from page to stage to exhilarating effect. Since opening at the National Theatre in 2019, the show has been nominated for three Olivier Awards, including Best New Play; transferred to the West End for previous sold-out seasons; and has welcomed audiences across the country into its thrilling world on tour.

The show is adapted by Joel Horwood (Berberian Sound Studio) and directed by Katy Rudd (Camp Siegfried). Its award-winning creative team includes Fly Davis, whose set designs immerse the audience into the multi-dimensional thrills of the story; costume and puppet designer Samuel Wyer; movement director Steven Hoggett; and lighting designer Paul Constable

The West End cast of The Ocean at the End of the Lane play includes Charlie Brooks (EastEnders) as Ursula, Keir Ogilvy as Boy, and Millie Hikasa as Lettie.

Inspired stagecraft, beguiling effects and a story that awakens the thrills and fears of childhood make this an unmissable theatre event, unlike anything else in London this year.
