The story follows Ali Rose, a small-town girl with a powerhouse voice, who arrives in New York searching for something bigger – and discovers it in the unlikeliest of places: a struggling burlesque club run by the formidable Tess. As Ali fights for her place on the stage and navigates complicated relationships, she transforms not just her own life but the lives of everyone around her. At its heart, Burlesque is about ambition, belonging, and the courage to take centre stage… on your own terms.
Inspired by the 2010 film starring Christina Aguilera and Cher, the Burlesque musical features fan-favourite songs like “Express,” “Welcome to Burlesque” and “Bound to You,” alongside fresh material by Todrick Hall (Kinky Boots on Broadway) and Jess Folley. Written by the film’s original director Steven Antin, with additional material by Kate Wetherhead, the production boasts creative contributions from choreographer/director Hall.
Rising star Jess Folley reprises her role as Ali, bringing powerhouse vocals and raw vulnerability to the part she originated in the show’s early runs. Broadway star Orfeh (Legaly Blonde the Musical, Chicago) makes her West End debut as Tess, commanding the stage with a charisma and vocal firepower that’s more than worthy of Cher’s legacy. They’re joined by Olivier Award-winner George Maguire (Sunny Afternoon) as Vince, Asha Parker Wallace as Nikki, Paul Jacob French (Grease, Midnight Cowboy) as Jackson, and Todrick Hall as Sean.
