The Smartest Giant in Town
Huge family fun with The Smartest Giant in Town play tickets
Are you dressed up smartly for a West End theatre trip? This Christmas, the heartwarming The Smartest Giant in Town play returns to St Martin’s Theatre for another season of fun! Based on Julia Donaldson’s picture book, this playful story of friendship is filled with astonishing puppetry, toe-tapping songs and fabulous storytelling.
When George the giant finds a shop selling giant-sized clothes, he’s so excited. It’s time for a brand new look! Soon, he’s no longer the scruffiest giant in town… he’s the smartest one! But when he bumps into several animals in need of his help, will he sacrifice his snazzy new look to lend them a hand? As his clothes hilariously become new items to help his tiny friends, George realises that it’s not always what’s on the outside that counts.
The Smartest Giant in Town play is a charming stage adaptation of Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s beloved picture book, perfect for small children who are experiencing live theatre for the very first time. It’s created by Fierylight and Little Angel Theatre, who are experts at creating child-first entertainment. They’ve previously adapted books including Charlie Cook’s Favourite Book and Dogs Don’t Do Ballet, so you’re guaranteed to be in for a morning or afternoon of fun family entertainment.
The show is directed by Samantha Lane, the Artistic Director of Little Angel Theatre and composed by Barb Jungr (We’re Going On A Bear Hunt, The Singing Mermaid), with Sherry Coenen (Operation Mincemeat, Frankenstein) as lighting designer and Kate Bunce (Wind in the Willows, I Believe in Unicorns).
If you’re looking for an introduction to theatre for the little ones, why not choose one that gigantic fun?! The Smartest Giant in Town play is back in London this winter for a limited time only. Make sure you’ve got your tickets now for this popular book-to-stage adaptation!
