“Electricity” on stage with Billy Elliot musical tickets

Lads do football, boxing, wrestling… and ballet! For the first time in over a decade, the beloved Billy Elliot musical is back in the West End. Featuring songs by Elton John, this “triumphant” (The Telegraph) story of a young North East boy who dreams of dancing is one of the most popular British musicals of all time, with a staggering four Olivier Awards and 10 Tony Awards. It’s back in London for a strictly limited run, so don’t wait – pirouette your way to the Adelphi Theatre and book your tickets now.

In a North East mining town during the 1980s strikes, a young boy called Billy is drawn to a ballet class when he’s meant to be having boxing lessons. As he finds his passion, he’s met with resistance by his family and community – and the expectations placed on people like him. Helped by his teacher, Mrs. Wilkinson, he pursues his dream of dancing and proves them all wrong.

Based on the 2000 film of the same name, the Billy Elliot musical is an uplifting story about self-expression, set against a backdrop of political turmoil and family drama. It’s famous for its impressive but demanding choreography, which sees talented young actors leap, pirouette and plisse across the stage every night.

With songs including “Electricity”, “Expressing Yourself” “Merry Christmas Maggie Thatcher” and “The Letter” from EGOT winner Elton John and a book by Lee Hall (Rocketman), it was a huge success on stage, transferring to Broadway and winning Best New Musical at major awards ceremonies on both sides of the Atlantic. It took home Best New Musical, Best Actor in a Musical, Best Theatre Choreographer and Best Sound Design at the 2006 Olivier Awards, before winning 10 Tonys in 2009, including Best Musical and Best Book of a Musical.

Further cast and creative information for the new run is to be announced.

We can’t really explain it, but we think you must see Billy Elliot on stage. With a heartwarming story and jaw-dropping talent from young actors, this is one of the most popular musicals around. So what are you waiting for? Go on Billy – book your tickets now!
