Dirty Dancing is back at the Dominion Theatre from January 2023
Dirty Dancing the Musical returns to London’s West End at the Dominion Theatre for a strictly limited 10-week run, coinciding with the legendary film’s 35th anniversary.
Telling the story of Baby and Johnny, Dirty Dancing follows these two fiercely independent young spirits from different worlds, who come together in what will be the most challenging and triumphant summer of their lives.
The musical arrives at the Dominion Theatre following a hugely successful UK and Ireland tour throughout 2021. Dirty Dancing has previously played in the West End twice – at the Aldwych Theatre in 2006 and the Piccadilly Theatre in 2013.
Adapted from the iconic 1987 film, starring Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey, the musical features all of the classic songs from the film, including “She’s Like the Wind”, “Hungry Eyes”, “Yes”, and the chart-topping “I’ve Had the Time of My Life”.
Michael O’Reilly (West Side Story, Lord of the Flies) stars as Johnny Castle opposite Kira Malou (Fame) as Frances ‘Baby’ Houseman. Further casting includes Carlie Milner (Penny Johnson), Lynden Edwards (Dr. Jake Houseman), Jackie Morrison (Marjorie Houseman), Lizzie Ottley (Lisa Houseman), Samuel Bailey (Billy Kostecki), Michael Remick (Max Kellerman), Thomas Sutcliffe (Neil Kellerman), Colin Charles (Tito Suarez), Tony Stansfield (Mr Schumacher), and Amber Sylvia Edwards (Elizabeth).
The stage adaptation premiered in Sydney in 2004 and proved a commercial success, selling 200,000 tickets over its initial six-month run. The musical has since played sell-out runs across the UK, North America, and around the world.
Critics hailed the musical adaptation as ‘the biggest live theatre sensation of all time’ (The Observer), so don’t miss Dirty Dancing as it returns to London for a 10-week period.
Dirty Dancing is recommended for ages 13+.
