After an acclaimed UK tour, audiences can enjoy Beverley Knight and Alexandra Burke starring as disco diva turned not-so-devout nun Deloris at the Dominion Theatre in 2024. This feel-good, nostalgic show – based on the 1992 film – features music from Academy Award winner Alan Menken, and you’ll be praising the heavens that you booked to see it!
Deloris Van Cartier’s life is glitz, glamour, dancing and attitude… until she’s caught in the wrong place at the wrong time and sees a murder being committed. Suddenly, dancefloors turn into cloisters as Deloris is ushered into a witness protection programme at a convent. But will she fit in?
As Deloris helps the convent choir find their own voices and rediscovers her own along the way, the Sister Act musical promises a heartwarming story of sisterhood that will lift your spirits.
Sister Act is adapted from the iconic film starring Whoopi Goldberg, and fans are in for a treat as it is just as fabulous on stage! Eight-time Oscar winner Alan Menken’s (Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid) Motown and soul-inspired songs, with lyrics by Glenn Slater, will have you shimmying in your seats – from “Take Me to Heaven” to “Raise Your Voice” – in this big and bold production from director Bill Buckhurst.
Other creatives include choreographer Alistair David; and Cheri Steinkellner and Bill Steinkellner, who wrote the show’s book.
Sister Act has a divine cast, with soul sensation and Olivier Award winner Beverley Knight (The Drifters Girl) as Deloris from 15 March to 8 June 2024, and singer Alexandra Burke (The Bodyguard) as Deloris from 10 June to 31 August 2024. Further casting is to be confirmed.
