Stranger Things star Gaten Matarazzo makes his West End debut in the landmark revival of Rent, which returns to London thirty years after it changed musical theatre forever. Jonathan Larson‘s timeless story of love, resilience and community in New York City during the late 1980s, secure your tickets to experience this groundbreaking musical, which is only in town for a limited time at the Duke of York’s Theatre.  

This electric rock musical follows a group of young artists, musicians, and friends as they navigate life in New York City’s East Village at the height of the HIV/AIDS epidemic. Inspired by Puccini’s La Boheme, we witness how the different characters confront difficult realities such as financial hardship, addiction and how the power of friendship and resilience can help them make it through. 

Gaten Matarazzo stars as Mark. He has a plethora of Broadway credits, including Les Miserables, Dear Evan Hansen, and Sweeney Todd. This production of Rent marks his West End debut. Further casting is to be confirmed. 

Rent is directed by Luke Sheppard, with choreography by Tom Jackson Greaves, set design by David Woodhead, costume design by Gabriella Slade, lighting design by Howard Hudson, audio production and sound design by Paul Gatehouse, and video design and cinematography by George Reeve and Nathan Amzi. The music and lyrics by Jonathan Larson include beloved songs like “One Song Glory”, “Seasons of Love”, “Out Tonight”, and “Another Day”.
