Book The Glass Menagerie tickets to see Golden Globe winner Amy Adams make her West End debut

Hollywood star Amy Adams will star in a West End revival of Tennessee Williams‘ seminal play The Glass Menagerie at the Duke of York’s Theatre.

Drawing on autobiographical elements of Williams‘ life, the play follows the Wingfield family as an ageing Southern Belle struggles to grapple with her past and threatens to consume her isolated daughter and frustrated son. One night, a mysterious gentleman caller arrives and throws the familial balance into disarray.

The play premiered in 1945 and launched Williams‘ career as a playwright, catapulting him into the limelight. He went on to write some of the most famous American dramas of the 20th century, including Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, A Streetcar Named Desire and Sweet Bird of Youth.

Amy Adams is a two-time Golden Globe winner and six-time Oscar nominee. Her most notable film appearances include Catch Me If You Can, Doubt, American Hustle and Vice. Since 2013, she has played Lois Lane in the DC Extended Universe, making appearances in Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League.

She made her stage debut as The Baker’s Wife in 2012 in the New York transfer of the Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre production of Stephen Sondheim’s Into the Woods. Adams also plays Cynthia Murphy in the 2021 screen adaptation of the acclaimed musical DEAR EVAN HANSEN.

The Glass Menagerie will be directed by Jeremy Herrin (People, Places and Things; This House). Adams will be joined by Paul Hilton (The Inheritance), Tom Glynn-Carney (The Ferryman), Lizzie Annis and Victor Alli

Don’t miss this starry revival of Williams’ celebrated memory play when it opens at the Duke of York’s Theatre on 23rd May 2022 for a limited three-month run.
