See Andrew Scott’s tour-de-force performance with Vanya play tickets

BAFTA and Olivier Award-winning actor Andrew Scott stars in an epic adaptation of Chekhov’s Uncle Vanya at the Duke of York’s Theatre this year, bringing the Russian playwright’s classic domestic drama up to date in a thrilling one-man performance. Fans of classic European theatre and Scott alike will thrill in the tension, drama and passion of the new Vanya play as he performs every role.

Uncle Vanya is a dark and funny domestic drama set on a remote country estate. Vanya and his niece Sonya have been custodians of the family seat for years, with visits only from the local doctor, Astrov. But things are about to change: Sonya’s father is about to arrive with his glamorous new wife in tow, triggering a flurry of rivalry, unrequited affections and resentment.

Andrew Scott stars in Vanya play as a one-man show, building on his previous acclaimed stage performances including Hamlet, Sea Wall and Birdland. He won the 2020 Olivier Award for Best Actor for Present Laughter. On television and film, he is best known for his roles as Moriarty in Sherlock and Hot Priest in Fleabag

Vanya is adapted from Chekhov’s Uncle Vanya by Olivier Award-winning playwright Simon Stephens (The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time), and directed by Sam Yates, who previously helmed The Starry Messenger in the West End. The show also features set design by Rosanna Vize

Already one of the most talked-about new shows opening in London this year, don’t miss your chance to see Andrew Scott deliver a masterclass performance in one of the greatest plays ever written. Intricate and gripping, the Vanya play runs for a limited season from 15 September – 21 October 2023.
