Fans of the smash-hit BBC sitcom will delight with Upstart Crow tickets as the cast hit the West End

Ben Elton’s critically acclaimed Shakspearean sitcom Upstart Crow flies into a stage adaptation in February 2020, starring David Mitchell and Gemma Whelan. This limited 11-week season will play at the Gielgud Theatre.

In an all-new comedy written especially for the stage, David Mitchell (Peep Show, That Mitchell and Webb Look) will once again don a bald wig for his now iconic portrayal of Will Shakespeare. Also returning to Upstart Crow is Gemma Whelan (Game of Thrones, Gentleman Jack) as his sweet friend Kate.

England’s greatest playwright is in trouble. He needs to up his game or risk the chopping block – King James has been on the throne for two years and, in that time, Will Shakespeare has produced just two plays, both of which have disastrously flopped. He desperately needs to come up with a brilliant new idea, but with a slew of family troubles at home, he’s finding it very difficult to concentrate…

Upstart Crow will be directed by Olivier award-winner Sean Folley (The Ladykillers, Jeeves and Wooster, The Miser).

Don’t miss your chance to see this hit sitcom arrive in the West End. Upstart Crow will play at the Gielgud Theatre from 7th February to 25th April 2020.
