Pure imagination with Charlie and the Chocolate Factory musical tickets

Over a decade after it was last staged in the West End, a brand-new production of the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory musical arrives in London following a Christmas debut in Leicester. Roald Dahl’s “fantastical and sometimes outright ridiculous world explodes onto the stage” (Everything Theatre) in an unforgettable show about family, kindness, greed and the importance of being true to yourself for audiences of all ages. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory heads to the London Coliseum in summer 2027 for a limited season.

Based on the beloved children’s book and film adaptation that starred Gene Wilder, the musical centres on Charlie Bucket, a poor boy who lives in a small house with his parents and four bedridden grandparents. When news breaks that Willy Wonka’s mysterious factory will be opening its doors to five lucky winners, Charlie dreams of finding one of the Golden Tickets hidden inside chocolate bar wrappers. Will he be one of the lucky ones? And what lies beyond the factory gates?

The Olivier Award winner Michael Ball will play the role of Willy Wonka. Ball is best known for starring roles in shows like Les Miserables and Hairspray. Further cast for the production is to be announced.

The musical, adapted from the classic children’s novel by Roald Dahl, features a book by David Greig (One Day the Musical), lyrics by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman (Hairspray, Smash) and music by Shaiman. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory will be directed by Nikolai Foster (Legally Blonde, Kinky Boots).

Featuring timeless songs from the original 1971 film such as “Pure Imagination” and “I’ve Got A Golden Ticket”, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is the perfect musical for audiences of all ages in 2027. The new production arrives at the London Coliseum in 2027 – secure your tickets today!
