Michael Ball returns to a musical he starred in over 30 years ago, as Aspects of Love is revived in the West End. This transformative, rich and romantic story about six people whose lives become entwined is at the Lyric Theatre for a limited season.
A complicated series of romantic entanglements, flirtations and betrayals play out over 17 years in this beguiling musical, as young lover Alex whisks actress Rose away for a passionate affair at his uncle’s villa. But the couple’s time together is soon interrupted by Uncle George, and his unexpected arrival will prove life-changing.
Aspects of Love is based on the novella by David Garnett, adapted for the stage by Andrew Lloyd Webber (The Phantom of the Opera; Evita) and with lyrics by Don Black and Charles Hart. Often considered one of his most charming and enchanting scores, songs in the musical include “Love Changes Everything”, “Seeing is Believing” and “The House at Pau”.
This new production, in the West End over 30 years after the musical’s original run, is directed by Jonathan Kent (Singin’ in the Rain) and billed as a reimagining for the 21st century.
Michael Ball starred in the Aspects of Love West End premiere back in 1989 as Alex, and now returns as Uncle George. His extensive and celebrated stage credits include Hairspray, Chess, and Les Misérables. He reached Number Two in the UK Singles Charts with his rendition of Aspects of Love’s major song, “Love Changes Everything”.
Further casting is to be confirmed.
Both emotionally intimate and epic in its scope, Aspects of Love is a stunning tribute to the unpredictability of love. Don’t miss this exciting revival of a Lloyd Webber gem, back in London in 2023.
Please note Michael Ball will not appear in Monday performances from 29 May onwards. The appearance of any performer cannot be guaranteed, and is subject to illness, injury and holiday entitlement.
Aspects of Love is suitable for ages 12+.
