Book The Smeds and The Smoos play tickets for a Julia Donaldson adventure

Jet off into outer space on a joyful adventure for little theatregoers in The Smeds and The Smoos live on stage! Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s uplifting picture books bursts into the Lyric Theatre this summer, promising huge fun with a heartwarming message for ages 3+.

Smeds are red and Smoos are blue, and they absolutely, under no circumstances, can be friends. But things are about to change on their planet far away from Earth, when a young Smed and a young Smoo meet and fall in love! Together, they jet off into the stars… will their families ever be able to get them home?

The Smeds and The Smoos play is based on one of children’s book team Donaldson and Scheffler’s most quirky stories, with its message of tolerance and understanding set in the eye-popping landscape of outer space.

Children’s theatre company Tall Stories, who have previously worked their magic on The Gruffalo and Olivier Award-nominated Room on the Broom, adapt this bold and bright tale for the stage. Families can expect catchy songs, magical puppets and stagecraft, audience interaction and a story that will have little ones hooked from start to end.

The Smeds and the Smoos play is directed by Toby Mitchell, with design by Barney George, lighting by Peter Harrison, puppets by Yvonne Stone and music & lyrics by Jon Fiber & Andy Shaw, for family theatre composers Jolly Good Tunes

This outer-space Romeo & Juliet story has an uplifting message and the perfect amount of eye-popping surprises. It runs in the West End from 20 July – 3 September; the perfect show to enjoy with children over the summer holidays.
