Enjoy a festive tradition with the Old Vic’s A Christmas Carol play tickets

Get into the spirit of the season with the Old Vic Theatre’s big-hearted A Christmas Carol. This year, Christopher Eccleston stars as miserly Scrooge in the theatre’s award-winning production of Charles Dickens’ tale of charity and redemption. Since premiering in 2017, this 5-star hit has become London’s longest-running adaptation of the beloved festive tale, and a new tradition for families and theatre fans to enjoy as the weather gets colder.

It is Christmas Eve, and Scrooge is not in the mood to celebrate. This tight-fisted moneylender barely managed to give his employee the day off to spend with his family, but soon he is going to be visited by someone very unexpected…

A Christmas Carol is one of the most famous ghost stories ever written and a favourite that we return to again and again. The Old Vic’s “irresistibly charming” (Broadway World) version welcomes audiences with the smell of mince pies and oranges and the sounds of music and merriment. A hit on both sides of the Atlantic, it won five Tony Awards on Broadway and continues to be one of the most anticipated dates on the calendar.

The Old Vic’s A Christmas Carol play is joyously adapted for the stage by playwright Jack Thorne and director Matthew Warchus, a team who know how to create jaw-dropping theatre magic for families. Thorne wrote the script for Olivier Award winner Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, and Old Vic Artistic Director Warchus helmed the luminous Matilda the Musical

The role of Scrooge is a huge one each year, with actors including Rhys Ifans, Andrew Lincoln and Paterson Joseph all starring. This year, Emmy Award winner Christopher Eccleston (The A Word, Accused, Doctor Who) takes on the lead role. The cast also includes Rob Compton as Bob Cratchit, Julie Jupp as Ghost of Christmas Past and Gemma Knight Jones as Ghost of Christmas Present.

Immerse yourself in the sights, sounds and warm feelings of the Old Vic’s A Christmas Carol play – this is a real cracker of a show that will thaw even the most “bah, humbug!” of hearts.
