It’s 1959 and young Jim Hopper can’t get his car to start, Bob Newby’s sister thinks his radio show is a joke, and Joyce Maldonado can’t wait to skip town as soon as she graduates. When new student Henry Creel arrives, his family realise that the fresh start they want might not be so easy, and the shadows of the past are never far behind.
Based on an original story by the Duffer Brothers and Kate Trefry, the Stranger Things play is the breathtaking prequel to Netflix’s juggernaut sci-fi series, brought to the stage by an award-winning creative team. This phenomenal Stranger Things play is conceived by the Duffer Brothers, Stranger Things writer Kate Trefry, and playwright Jack Thorne (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child) and written by Trefry. Director Stephen Daldry (The Crown) and co-director Justin Martin lead a fantastic creative team into the dark corners, lurking surprises and gobsmacking magic of the production, which has set design by Miriam Buether, and illusions and visual effects by Jamie Harrison, Chris Fisher and 59 Productions.
