Don’t miss Gary Barlow’s smash-hit adaptation of beloved film Calendar Girls with The Girls tickets

Gary Barlow’s hit musical adaptation of popular British film Calendar Girls makes its West End premiere at London’s Phoenix Theatre. Based on Tim Firth’s original 2003 film starring Helen Mirren and Julie Walters, The Girls is the heart-warming story of a group of women who make a tasteful nude calendar for charity. Originally opening as a play in 2015 at the Leeds Grand Theatre, The Girls now plays in the West End!

Adapted from Calendar Girls, The Girls is based on the real life story of a Women’s Institute who decide to fundraise for a local hospital by posing for a racy but tastefully-done nude calendar. Some are excited at the opportunity to bare all for the camera, whilst others take a little more persuading. When the calendar is released, the ladies become inadvertent media sensations, with interviews and photo-shoots all lined up. But within the group, each of them are dealing with their own strained personal lives that can only make the girls closer than ever. A touching tale of friendship in the face of adversity, The Girls is a five-star hit across the UK.

Casting for the West End production includes Debbie Chazen as Ruth, Sophie-Louise Dann as Celia, Michele Dotrice as Jessie, Marian McLoughlin as Marie, Claire Moore as Chris, Claire Machin as Cora and Joanna Riding as Annie. Further cast members include Joe Caffrey as Rod, Jeremy Clyde as Dennis, John Davitt as Doctor, Soo Drouet as Brenda, James Gaddas as John, Steve Giles as Lawrence, Maxwell Hutcheon as Colin, Judith Street as Lady Cravenshire, Josh Benson as Tommo, Ben Hunter as Danny and Chloe May Jackson as Jenny.

Written and directed by Tim Firth, The Girls features an original score by Gary Barlow, who found recent success with Broadway’s Finding Neverland. The Girls’ creative team includes design by Robert Jones and lighting design by Tim Lutkin, with sound design by Terry Jardine and Nick Lidster. Calendar Girls received the British Comedy Award for Best Comedy Film and the musical adaptation has equally captured the hearts of West End audiences.
