Following its sell-out premiere season in 2016, Matthew Bourne’s adaptation of the legendary film The Red Shoes returns in 2019.

A tale of obsession, possession, and a dream to dance. Victoria Page lives to dance and dreams of being the greatest dancer in the world. But Victori’as ambitions become a battleground for the two men who inspire her passion.

The Red Shoes is orchestrated by Terry Davies, with the New Adventures Orchestra playing the romantic music of Hollywood composers Bernard Herrmann. Lez Brotherston designs, lighting is by Paule Constable, and sound is by Paul Groothius. Projections are designed by Duncan McLean.

 ‘New Adventures’ is a ground-breaking British dance company, headed up by Bourne. The company tell classic tales with a theatrical twist, garnering huge success over 30 years. The company have created over 11 full-length productions as well as a triple bill of shorter pieces. They have 12 Olivier Award nominations and six wins, including two for The Red Shoes. Their next new production is Romeo + Juliet, which plays at Sadler’s Wells summer 2019.
