The Sondheim Theatre is famous for being the home of the West End’s longest-running musical, Les Misérables. The building is on London’s most famous road for theatres, Shaftesbury Avenue, and is surrounded by similarly landmark theatres such as the Gielgud, Lyric and the Palace Theatre. As the area is so densely populated with entertainment spots, there is plenty of transportation links to and from the area, with two tube stations within a 5-minute walk from the theatre. The nearest national rail station to the Sondheim Theatre on Shaftesbury Avenue is Charing Cross (10-minute walk). Cross over the road at the traffic lights outside Charing Cross station and then turn left down Ducannon Street. Head straight over Trafalgar Square towards Pall Mall and take a right up Whitcomb St. Keep walking as the street meets Wardour Street. The theatre will be straight ahead of you at the end of Wardour Street as the street meets Shaftesbury Avenue.
The nearest tube station to the Sondheim Theatre is Piccadilly Circus (Bakerloo and Piccadilly lines), with Leicester Square (Northern and Piccadilly lines) also close by.
Piccadilly Circus (2 mins)
From Piccadilly Circus head straight out of the station and turn left up Great Windmill Street. At the end of the road turn right onto Shaftesbury Avenue. The Sondheim Theatre will be on your left-hand side.
Leicester Square (5 mins)
Out of Leicester Square station head towards Leicester Square itself/the Empire Cinema. As you pass the square and cinema, turn right up Rupert Street then left onto Shaftesbury Avenue. The theatre will be on the right-hand side.

Sondheim Theatre is situated within the London Congestion Charging Zone which applies weekdays (not including bank holidays) from 7am until 6pm and costs £11.50 per day. If you are driving to the theatre after 6pm then you will not be charged.
The Sondheim Theatre is part of the Q-Park Scheme (a half-price parking deal.) The nearest participating car park is the 24hr Q Park Chinatown Car Park (20 Newport Place,WC2H 7PR). Parking costs £18 for up to 3hrs, and £24 for 4hrs but theatregoers can save 50% if they have their ticket validated at the theatre.
Shaftesbury Avenue is brimming with black cabs circulating the area, so it is fairly easy to hail one. There is also a designated taxi rank just a short walk away outside Charing Cross station.
