Oh, Mary!
A fantastic historical romp with Oh Mary play tickets!
Direct from Broadway, the smash-hit comedy Oh, Mary! transfers to London’s Trafalgar Theatre for a strictly limited season. Written by the hilarious Cole Escola, this uproariously dark play reimagines the days before Abraham Lincoln’s assassination from a fresh new perspective: his wife’s! Expect outrageous humour, biting wit, and plenty of absurdity.
Set in the weeks leading up to Abraham Lincoln’s assassination, the play explores the unfulfilled longings and suppressed desires of Mary Todd Lincoln. Through Escola’s hilariously unfiltered and audacious lens, history’s overlooked First Lady is given a chaotic, tragicomic voice of her own. Part camp farce, part whip-smart satire, and part poignant character study, Oh, Mary! is an 80-minute whirlwind that finds humour in tragedy and gives one of history’s most forgotten women the spotlight she deserves.
Declared “one of the best comedies in years” by The New York Times and hailed as “a theatrical sensation” by The Hollywood Reporter, the Oh Mary play has been a phenomenon on Broadway, selling out performances and earning rave reviews from critics and audiences alike. Time Out called it “dizzyingly, breathtakingly funny […] a fast and wild joy ride!” while Deadline declared, “there’s funny, there’s very funny, and then there’s Oh, Mary!”. Variety kept it simple: “Believe the hype.”
Cole Escola wrote and starred in their Oh Mary play during its Off-Broaday and Broadway runs, winning the Tony Award for Best Leading Actor in a Play. In London, Mason Alexander Park takes on the role. Park has recently starred as the Emcee in Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club and appeared in Jamie Lloyd’s Shakespeare Season at Drury Lane (The Tempest and Much Ado About Nothing).
Casting also includes Kate O’Donnell as Mary’s Chaperone, Oliver Stockley as Mary’s Husband’s Assistant, Dino Fetscher as Mary’s Teacher and Olivier Award winner Giles Terera (Hamilton) as Mary’s Husband.
The production is helmed by director Sam Pinkleton, who won the Tony Award for Best Direction of a Play for his work on the show Stateside. He and Escola bring a unique blend of theatrical invention and bold storytelling to create a comedy unlike anything else in the West End.
Wild, witty, and wickedly entertaining, Cole Escola’s Oh Mary play at Trafalgar Theatre promises to be the most outrageous theatrical event of the season. Don’t miss your chance to experience the Broadway sensation that had New York audiences howling with laughter – book your tickets now.
