Award-winning comedian Adam Kay brings his stand-up show This is Going to Hurt: Secret Diaries of a Junior Doctor to the Garrick Theatre this spring as part of a UK tour.

Based on his time working as a junior doctor, Kay has collated his hospital stories into an eye-opening stand-up show which offers a unique insight into life working in a hospital. From the variety of patients to the other staff, Kay tells all. The show features hilarious songs, some gory stories, and astute first-hand observations.

The show is adapted from the book of the same name, which became a Sunday Times best-seller. The show has sold out Edinburgh Fringe three years running, and also played a sold-out run at the Soho Theatre in 2017 as well as various UK tours.

Adam Kay is an award-winning writer and comedian, who began his comedy work in student band ‘Amateur Transplants’. The band write musical parodies and are best known for their parody ‘London Underground’. As well as having a former career as a junior doctor, Kay has written for shows such as Mrs Brown’s Boys and Mitchell and Webb.

This is Going to Hurt is currently being adapted into an 8-part series for BBC Two.
