Book Eddie Izzard Great Expectations tickets to see the comedian and actor’s tour-de-force Dickensian show
It’s Charles Dickens but not as you know it in Eddie Izzard’s Great Expectations! The comedian and actor takes on every role in this ambitious one-woman version of the classic story. It has already wowed audiences on Broadway, and now runs for a limited season at the West End’s Garrick Theatre.
Great Expectations is a classic Victorian tale of orphans, crime, romance, revenge and betrayal. When blacksmith’s apprentice Pip suddenly finds himself the benefactor of a large fortune, he moves to London and enters high society. His world is populated by beautiful but cold Estella – the woman he loves and yearns to be with; desolate jilted bride Miss Havisham; criminal Magwitch; and more. But who gave him the money, and why?
One of the UK’s best-loved comedians, Eddie Izzard brings each of these characters to life with their own quirks and voices in her acclaimed performance. Fans of Izzard’s stand-up work and love of pushing boundaries will relish in seeing her on stage, in a role – or rather, almost 20 roles – that shine with her wit, whimsy and mischief. Her previous stage credits include A Day in the Death of Joe Egg on Broadway, for which she earned a Tony Award nomination.
Great Expectations with Eddie Izzard is adapted for the stage by her brother Mark Izzard. The Izzard siblings are currently working on a one-woman Hamlet. Selina Cadell (Doc Martin) directs, with set design by Tom Piper, costumes by Piper and Libby Da Costa, and music by Eliza Thomspon.
Don’t miss this chance to see Izzard in an unforgettable solo performance, in London for just six weeks.
