Don’t miss The Mirror and the Light tickets to witness the epic final chapter of the best-selling Wolf Hall trilogy

Hilary Mantel’s The Mirror and the Light, the much-anticipated conclusion of her best-selling Wolf Hall trilogy, is receiving a stage adaptation, set to premiere in the West End this September.

The Mirror and the Light traces the final years of Thomas Cromwell who continues his ruthless ascent to the heights of power, sitting alongside King Henry VIII as his trusted advisor. But enemies are lurking around every corner and the cracks in the crown are beginning to show, can the common man survive against the ferocious royal?

Mantel is adapting the novel herself, alongside actor Ben Miles who originated the role of Cromwell on stage. The Royal Shakespeare Company, who produced the stage adaptations of the first two books in the Wolf Hall trilogy, return to produce the thrilling finale to the series, which will premiere at the Gielgud Theatre in September.

Ben Miles returns to play Thomas Cromwell and is joined by Nathaniel Parker as Henry VIII. Further casting is to be announced. The Mirror and the Light is directed by the RSC’s Jeremy Herrin, with design from Christopher Oram.

Wolf Hall was published in 2009 to critical acclaim and was the recipient of the Man Booker Prize, amongst a host of other literary accolades. The sequel, Bring Up the Bodies, was published in 2012 and also scooped the Booker Prize, making Mantel one of only four others to win the award more than once. Eager fans were forced to wait eight years for the final book, which was published in 2020 and became an instant bestseller around the world.

The stage adaptation, Wolf Hall Parts One & Two, premiered at the RSC in Stratford-Upon-Avon in 2014, before transferring to the West End at the Aldwych Theatre later that year. The production was nominated for five Olivier Awards and transferred to Broadway in 2015.

The Mirror and the Light is set to be one of the theatrical highlights of the year, reuniting the cast and creative team from the original hugely-acclaimed stage adaptation and helmed by the best-selling author herself.
