Gripping tragedy with Othello play tickets

One of Shakespeare’s greatest tragedies returns to the West End this autumn in a thrilling new revival of Othello, playing at Theatre Royal Haymarket. Starring David Harewood and Toby Jones and directed by Tony Award-winner Tom Morris (War Horse), this powerful production brings the timeless tale of love, jealousy, and betrayal into stark contemporary focus.

Set in a fractured military world of shifting loyalties and simmering prejudice, the gripping Othello play follows a respected general whose passionate love for Desdemona is poisoned by the insidious plotting of his ensign, Iago. As doubt takes root, Othello’s world unravels, culminating in one of theatre’s most devastating finales. Shakespeare’s exploration of race, trust, and the corrosive power of manipulation feels as urgent and unsettling today as it did over 400 years ago.

This new staging marks a major return to the role for David Harewood, who was the first Black actor to play Othello at the National Theatre in 1997. Now, nearly three decades later, he reprises the role with fresh intensity and experience, building on an already landmark performance. Harewood is currently President of the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, and his credits include Homeland and Supergirl on screen, and Best of Enemies on stage.

Joining him is BAFTA winner Toby Jones (Mr Bates vs the Post Office) as the manipulative Iago, Caitlin FitzGerald (Succession, Masters of Sex) as Desdemona, Vinette Robinson (Boiling Point) as Emilia and Luke Treadaway (The Curious Incident of The Dog In The Night-Time, Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club) as Cassio.

The creative team includes director Tom Morris (War Horse, Dr Semmelweis), designer Ti Green, lighting designer Richard Howell, sound designer Jon Nicholls, and fight director Kate Waters. With Morris’s distinctive theatrical vision and PJ Harvey’s haunting score, this production strips Othello to its emotional core.

Don’t miss this rare opportunity to see two powerhouse performances in a bold revival of Shakespeare’s searing tragedy. Book now for the Othello play at Theatre Royal Haymarket – for a strictly limited season.
