The Truth
Wickedly funny marital woes with The Truth play tickets
Set a date with one of the West End’s funniest comedies, as The Truth play returns in 2027. Starring Stephen Mangan, Ardal O’Hanlon, Sarah Hadland and Janie Dee, this “seat-shakingly funny” (The Guardian) revival of Academy Award winner Florian Zeller’s comedy about infidelity and secrets is back in the West End, this time at Theatre Royal Haymarket. Everybody has something to hide, but will any of them tell the truth? Book your tickets to find out!
Michel is having an affair with Alice, but is married to Laurence. Alice is married to Michel’s best friend Paul. Alice thinks they need to come clean, but would it cause more harm than it’s worth? As the two (or three!) couples’ relationships become entangled, truths are revealed, concealed and manipulated…
Fast-paced, witty and genuinely laugh-out-loud, The Truth reveals that loyalty and fidelity only go so far when someone wants to lie to themselves. It is written by French playwright Florian Zeller, whose other plays include The Father and The Son. Zeller adapted The Father into a film starring Anthony Hopkins, winning the Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay.
If you missed out on seeing The Truth play at the Apollo Theatre, good news: the cast returns for this second season! The “deliciously funny, superbly cast” (Smooth Radio) company includes Tony Award nominee Stephen Mangan, Ardal O’Hanlon (Father Ted), Sarah Hadland (Miranda) and Olivier Award winner Janie Dee.
The play is translated into English by Tony winner and Academy Award nominee Christopher Hampton (Sunset Boulevard) and directed by Olivier Award winner Lindsay Posner (Noises Off).
We have to be honest: we think The Truth is a must-see, so book early! This major revival is a “proper West End night out” (The Standard) mixing wit, farce, romantic drama and some of the best comic actors around. Catch it at Theatre Royal Haymarket for a limited season in 2027.
