See Celia Imrie in the latest series of one-act Harold Pinter plays with Pinter at the Pinter tickets

Celia Imrie, Abraham Popoola and Tracy-Ann Oberman star in the sixth double-bill of one-act plays in The Jamie Lloyd Company’s Pinter at the Pinter Season, commemorating the 10th anniversary of Nobel Prize-winning writer Harold Pinter. Party Time / Celebration presents an evening of social satire perfect for a modern audience.

Originally published in 1991, Party Time is one of Pinter’s later works that is a scathing and bitterly amusing attack on the narcissistic super-rich, who become increasingly powerful at an alarming rate. Set against the backdrop of state oppression, the play is guaranteed to resonate with audiences of the current socio-political climate.

Party Time is paired with Celebration, later published in 1999 and Pinter’s final ever play. An irresistible comedy, the short play takes place within a fashionable London restaurant and explores the ostentation and vulgar materialism of the rich elite. A completely satirical comedy, Celebration is directed by Jamie Lloyd, whose most recent West End credits include Doctor Faustus, The Maids and The Homecoming.

Casting includes Celia Imrie, who appeared as Goneril in the Old Vic’s King Lear, as well as Tracy-Ann Oberman, who recently starred in Present Laughter at Chichester Festival Theatre. Further cast members are Abraham Popoola who recently appeared in Julius Caesar at the Bridge Theatre, as well as John Simm, Ron Cook, Gary Kemp and Phil Davis.

Featuring as the sixth production in a series of plays that include The Lover, The Collection, The Dumb Waiter and more, Party Time / Celebration runs at the West End’s Harold Pinter Theatre from 20 December 2018 to 26 January 2019, with an official opening on 4 January 2019.
