Enjoyed all around the world, Disney’s The Lion King continues to enchant audiences of all ages. Winner of several Tony and Drama Desk Awards, The Lion King is the on stage sensation that features an unforgettable score from Elton John and Tim Rice. Including songs such as “Circle of Life”, “I Just Can’t Wait to be King” and “Can You Feel the Love Tonight”, The Lion King is sure to be a memorable experience.

Similarly to the film, the musical journeys to the heart of the African Savannah, following young lion cub Simba, who is forced into exile by his evil Uncle Scar. With the help of a wisecracking meerkat and a flatulent warthog Timon and Pumbaa, along with a colourful cast of ensemble characters, Simba must fight to return to his rightful place as King of the Jungle.

Directed and designed by Julie Taymor, The Lion King is known for the incredible ensemble puppetry that is used to create the Savannah. With impressive dance and physical theatre, which is used to invent the jungle, this really is a show that has to be seen to be believed. After opening on Broadway to rave critical reviews in 1997, the musical became the hottest ticket in town, and has since mounted numerous productions in Taiwan, Mexico, Paris, Las Vegas and Sydney. The Lion King is also the fifth longest running musical ever on Broadway, and has been at the Lyceum Theatre for an incredible 17 years.

The Lion King is the perfect musical for any occasion. Families will enjoy seeing the show live on-stage, and even the more discerning theatre critics will be blown away by the impressive production values and theatricality. For those new to musicals this show will be a perfect introduction to the genre, and will hopefully inspire repeated theatre visits.

Child Friendly

The Lion King is a perfect musical for children and families. It is recommended for ages 6 and up. Anybody aged 16 or under must be accompanied by an adult. Please note that children under the age of 3 will not be admitted into the auditorium.
