Avenue Q
Don’t be a muppet – book Avenue Q musical tickets!
Get ready for outrageous laughs, unforgettable songs and a lot of puppet chaos as the three-time Tony Award-winning Avenue Q musical returns to the West End. Packed with filthy humour, irreverent charm and a heart of gold (or… felt), this brilliant musical comedy is back on the block after 20 years. Whether you’re a long-time fan or discovering the show for the first time, this strictly limited run at the Shaftesbury Theatre promises to be one of the funniest nights out in the West End.
The Avenue Q musical follows recent college graduate Princeton, who arrives in New York City armed with a degree in English and absolutely no idea what to do with it. Moving into a shabby apartment on Avenue Q, he quickly becomes part of a chaotic community of neighbours, including the sweet but shy Kate Monster, wannabe comedian Brian, internet-obsessed Trekkie Monster, former child star Gary Coleman, and Rod and Nicky, whose friendship might be more complicated than it seems. Together they muddle their way through romance, rejection, disappointment, friendship and adulthood… it’s like kids TV for adults!
Created by Robert Lopez (co-writer of Frozen and The Book of Mormon) and Jeff Marx, with a book by Jeff Whitty, Avenue Q became a global smash hit thanks to its mischievous jokes, bold musical numbers and a surprisingly warm message about finding your purpose. This new staging brings the original Broadway team – director Jason Moore (Pitch Perfect, Shrek The Musical) and puppet designer Rick Lyon – back together for a show that will leave you smiling for days.
Fans can look forward to all the infamous songs, from “The Internet is for Porn” and “It Sucks to Be Me” to the irresistibly catchy “I Wish I Could Go Back to College.”
Hilarious, rude, heartfelt and brilliantly written, the cult-classic Avenue Q musical remains one of the most audaciously fun musicals ever to hit the West End – perfect for fans of The Book of Mormon and The Play That Goes Wrong. With limited performances at the Shaftesbury Theatre, it’s the perfect excuse to grab some friends, leave your serious faces at the door, and laugh until your sides ache. Book now for a night of brilliantly rude fun!
Child friendly?
Despite the Sesame Street look, the Avenue Q musical is not appropriate for children. Age recommendation 14+.
