The Tiger Who Came To Tea

Enjoy a roar-some adventure with The Tiger Who Came To Tea play tickets

Beloved children’s story The Tiger Who Came To Tea play is back at Theatre Royal Haymarket for another summer season. This lively, Olivier Award-nominated stage adaptation of Judith Kerr’s story is fantastic fun for the whole family and specially created for young children.

As Sophie and her mummy are setting the table, their doorbell rings. Who could it be? Soon enough, a large tiger is gatecrashing their teatime. Their unexpected guest is much hungrier than they ever imagined, and soon the cupboards are looking very empty… will there be enough left for Sophie and mummy?

Judith Kerr’s picture book first came to the stage over 14 years ago, and has since cemented its reputation as one of the best shows for young children in London every summer. It was nominated for a prestigious Olivier Award, but more importantly, has captured little ones’ imaginations with its vibrant storytelling and interactive sing-a-longs.

At just 55 minutes long without an interval, the show is perfect for pre-school-aged children who might be ready for their first West End theatre trip.

The Tiger Who Came To Tea play is adapted and directed by David Wood. Wood has a great reputation for turning children’s books into vivid theatre shows, with other credits including Babe the Sheep Pig, Meg and Mog and The Witches

Casting in London is to be confirmed, but you can expect some engaging acting from the team, and an exciting costume for the boisterous tiger himself! It also features choreography by Emma Clayton and design by Susie Caulcutt

This roar-some family show will keep the whole family entertained! It returns to London over summer 2023, until 3 September.
