Buy Cinderella tickets to see this fairy tale icon as you’ve never seen her before in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s brand new reimagining
A timeless fairy tale meets the biggest name in British musical theatre in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s updated and reimagined version of Cinderella. Backed up by strong creative talent and a clear artistic vision, Cinderella is bound to be a certified West End hit. Everyone is invited to the ball at London’s Gillian Lynne Theatre from June 2021.
While precise plot details are yet to be unveiled, we know it’s an original story written by actor and screenwriter Emerald Fennel. Fennel is known for playing Nurse Patsy Mount in Call the Midwife and has won much acclaim as head writer on the second season of Killing Eve. Andrew Lloyd Webber himself writes the music and will bring the same calibre of excellence that fans worldwide have come to expect from such legendary shows as Phantom of the Opera and Jesus Christ Superstar. Lyrics are provided by David Zippel, the American lyricist behind City of Angels and The Woman in White.
Director Laurence Connor, who has worked with Lloyd Webber on School of Rock and the recent revival of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat will helm the production, with JoAnn Hunter, who also worked on Joseph as choreographer.
Carrie Hope Fletcher stars as Cinderella, having already stepped into the lead character’s glass slippers during workshops. Victoria Hamilton-Barritt (In the Heights, The View UpStairs) will play the role of Stepmother. Further casting includes Rebecca Trehearn as the Queen, Ivano Turco as Sebastian, Laura Baldwin and Georgina Castle as stepsisters Adele and Marie, and Gloria Onitiri as the Godmother. Georgina Onuorah will play the role of Cinderella at certain performances.
A new Andrew Lloyd Webber musical is always an exciting event and the robust creative talent behind Cinderella prove that this show is bound to leave audiences at the Gillian Lynne Theatre enchanted long before the clock strikes midnight.
Cinderella the Musical is recommend for children aged 6 and above.
