Produced by Stage Entertainment, Joop van den Ende and Tali Pelman, the musical charts the singer’s rise from humble beginnings in Nutbush, Tennessee to becoming a worldwide superstar. Written by Olivier Award-winner Katori Hall, with Frank Ketelaar and Kees Prins, the new stage musical reveals the defiant story of a woman who broke the boundaries of age, gender and race.

Adrienne Warren is the Tony Award-nominated actress whose Broadway credits include Shuffle Along, Bring it On the Musical and Dreamgirls, as well as The Wiz. Multiple television credits include Orange is the New Black, Blue Bloods, People in New Jersey and Black Box. Further casting is yet to be confirmed.

Directed by jukebox musical veteran Phyllida Lloyd, further creative team members have also been announced, including set and costume design by Mark Thompson, lighting by Bruno Poet and sound by Nevin Steinberg, with musical supervision by Nicholas Skilbeck and orchestrations by Ethan Popp. They will join previously confirmed choreographer Anthony van Laast.

Created in association with Tina Turner herself, it was a mission to find the perfect performer to fill the iconic role and bring the rock ‘n’ roll soul of the singer to life. She said of the casting: β€œIt has been my joy to introduce Adrienne today. From the moment I met her at our last workshop I saw her exceptional talent. Playing this role will require immense physical and emotional commitment, and bravery too.”
