School of Rock – The Musical
‘Stick It to the Man’ with School of Rock tickets as Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical rocks out at the Gillian Lynne Theatre
Andrew Lloyd Webber’s smash-hit, Olivier Award-winning School of Rock the Musical crashed into the Gillian Lynne Theatre for its UK premiere in 2016, and continues to play to packed out audiences. Originally premiering on Broadway, the show has earned rave reviews from audiences and critics alike.
Based on the 2003 film of the same name, starring comic icon Jack Black, School of Rock follows wannabe rock star Dewey Finn who poses as a substitute teacher for money. Once he hears that the children of Horace Green are superb musicians, he decides to form his own band – the School of Rock. Featuring an original score by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Glenn Slater, the musical includes catchy songs such as “You’re in the Band”, “Where Did the Rock Go” and “School of Rock (Teacher’s Pet)”.
Original London lead David Fynn (The 25th Annual County Putnam Spelling Bee, Game of Thrones) stars as wannabe rock god Dewey Finn, alongside Laura Tebbutt as Rosalie Mullins, Mark Anderson as Ned Schneebly and Rebecca LaChance as Patty di Marco, alongside Jake Sharp as alternate Dewey.
Additional casting includes Andy Rees, Benjamin Yates, Rob Falconer, Suzie McAdam, and Keisha Amposna Banson. School of Rock the Musical features three alternating child casts, all of whom are talented actor-musicians who play the music live on stage.
Directed by Laurence Connor, the musical features a book by Julian Fellowes (Downton Abbey), with choreography by JoAnn M. Hunter, design by Anna Louizos, lighting design by Natasha Katz and sound design by Mick Potter. Winning the 2017 WhatsOnStage Award for Best New Musical and the Olivier Award for Outstanding Achievement in Music, School of Rock the Musical is the West End’s most rockin’ shows, playing at the Gillian Lynne Theatre until 1st March 2020!
